Every Wednesday, immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of France’s number one auction market in terms of the number of animals presented in 2010. Winner of the Eco Maire award in 2009.
Saint-Christophe-en-Brionnais, situated in the heart of the Brionnais countryside, comes alive on Wednesdays, the day of its Charolais cattle market. Come and discover this unusual “spectacle” throughout the year, in an exceptional setting, which harmoniously blends the past, the present and the future!
This historic market has long enjoyed a reputation that extends far beyond the borders of Saône-et-Loire. This is even more true following the completion in mid-2009 of its auction hall: a prime example of integrating new energy sources, featuring nearly one hectare of solar panels on the roof and rainwater harvesting tanks.

Guided tours entitled “Experience and understand our market”: this year, in July and August, the market is held only on Wednesday mornings, so tours take place between 7.30 am and 11 am.
No market on 12 August 2026.
Duration: approximately 1 hour.
Booking recommended, particularly for groups.

Tourist information is available at the tourist information centre. Local restaurants offer their market menu, with a choice of pot-au-feu, calf’s head, entrecôte or beef steak, depending on your appetite.
