The Department of Saône-et-Loire invites you to take part in a 3-hour walk around the Sensitive Natural Area (ENS) of the Montceaux l'Étoile marsh to find out more about dragonflies, the fascinating insects known as dragonflies.
Dragonflies are fearsome predators with surgical precision in flight, and are true indicators of the quality of aquatic environments. Their presence testifies to the ecological richness of marshes, ponds and other wetlands. This afternoon will be an opportunity to learn how to observe them, recognise them and understand their role in the ecosystem.
Wetlands, like the Montceaux l'Étoile marsh, are fragile environments that are essential for biodiversity. They are home to unique flora and fauna, including dragonflies, which play a key role in the food chain. Yet these environments are under threat from climate change, pollution and the disappearance of natural habitats.
By taking part in this walk, you'll discover :
- The different species of dragonfly present on the site.
- Their life cycle, from aquatic larvae to flying insects.
- Their ecological role and their place in the ecosystem.
- The threats to these insects and what can be done to protect them.
Times to be announced on the day of booking. Booking essential.
