Saint-Christophe-en-Brionnas, located in the heart of the Brionnais countryside, is especially lively on Wednesdays, the day of its market of Charolais cattle. Come and discover it throughout the year. In a unique setting, this unusual "spectacle" harmoniously combines past, present and future ! This historic market has long enjoyed a reputation that goes well beyond the borders of the Saône-et-Loire area. That's even more true since the completion in mid-2009 of its state-of-the-art show ring and auction room, with the addition of integrated renewable energy systems with nearly one hectare of solar roof and rainwater recovery thanks. Transactions in the new show ring (young cattle, calves, so-called "lean animals") begin at 7 am (end time variable from one Wednesday to another depending on the number of cattle). For the traditional market of private sales (so-from 9am to 15h30 pm (other schedules and days on request). Duration : about 1 h. Cost : 2 euro per adult, 1 euro per child from 12 to 15 years, free for children less than 12 years. Reservation recommended especially for groups. Tourist pamphlets are available at the tourist reception point. The restaurants offer a special market day menu with some hearty choices according to your appetite : stew (pot-au-feu), veal head (tête-de-veau), and various cuts of steak.
