Cattle market

Important Charolais cattle market on Wednesdays
This market has made the reputation of St Christophe since 1488. It is the most important cattle market in France for the Charolais breed (70 000 cattle per year). Brussels uses it as a reference for the official quotations.
The development of the ways of living and marketing practices have led to a certain decline of the activity in its existing traditional form: that is why an auction market was created in 2009
The auction market is used for selling grass-fed calves, then lean animals, while the beef cattle continue to be negotiated on the traditional market.
